Do-It-Yourself Divorce Legal Assistance
DIVORCE COACHING
This service is designed for the do-it-yourselfer who wants to maintain control, decision-making and responsibility for all decisions made in the course of the divorce and who wishes to settle out of court. As attorneys, we recommend that you not do it yourself. However, we realize that many divorces occur without any attorney representation or attorney assistance. And many more individuals choose to educate themselves. If you choose to do it yourself, at least get some legal assistance.
If you wish to handle your own non-litigated divorce but wish to have attorney services, divorce coaching may be for you.
The scope of the services are specified in detail and agreed to by you and the attorney up front. No retainer fee is required. Hourly fees are charged by the attorney for services performed under the agreement.
Choose any or all of the following attorney services:
- Provide legal advice regarding specific situations: via office visits, telephone calls, fax, mail, e-mail
- Provide advice about alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration
- Evaluate client's self-diagnosis of the case and advise client about legal rights
- Provide guidance and procedural information for filing or serving documents
- Review correspondence and court documents
- Prepare and or suggest documents to be prepared
- Perform legal research and analysis
- Assist in discovery plan: interrogatories, requests for document production
- Plan for negotiations
- Refer client to other counsel, experts or professionals
- Prepare post-divorce documents such as trusts, wills, QDROs, deeds and other real estate documents.
- Provide preventive planning and/or schedule legal checkups
